Hey...

My PowerMac G4 originally came with OS 9.0.4 which I now would like to install on my PowerBook 1400c/166. However it does not work, the installer quits with an error that this software is not going to run on this computer.

What I need to know is whether there is any way to install it despite the fact that it came bundled with my PMG4. I have the grey "PowerMac G4 Software Restore" CD and the blue "PowerMac G4 Software Installation" CD.

Update: Problem solved.

You can't. The system CD from your PM does not have the files necessary to install it on your PB1400 (like battery monitor, etc.). What you need is the retail copy of OS9/9.1/9.2.1 etc.

Buy them on ebay or used from other mac souls.

Supposedly, some system disks will work on other systems, (like PM on an iMac, etc.), but I've never met anyone who claims to have done it themselves. I think people on ebay say it to sell the system from old systems.

Update: Sorry, I didn't see your update. How did you solve it?
