After the Colors control panel got integrated into the Finder, and the loss of the easter egg in the Memory control panel, the last easter egg I knew about is essentially gone in Mac OS 9.1 -- the old Finder mountain range. You reach it by holding option and going to the Apple menu. It still says "About the Finder..." but now it has a pic of the Cupertino campus, and lost the nice scrolling text that went through every OS version and said who worked on it.
Sad, that!

P.S. The reason Apple doesn't allow the names of programmers in the software any more is because too many Apple employees got stolen by Microsoft headhunters, so Apple now tries to keep them anonymous.

In OS 9.0.4, you also got the pic of Cupertino campus, also. Wish I'd have checked this with earlier OS's!

Yeah, the mountain range disappeared in OS9. I was saddened by it too
Was there in full colour in 8.
Wow, I remember finding the one in OS7 on my PowerBook 100 one day... I think it was 7.0.1.
Might have been 6, but I'm pretty sure it was 7.
Black and white, the mountains straight lines... (might've been black and white simply cause the PB100 was though)
I'll get a screenshot if anyone wants it

Just a side note. If you wish to see who programed OS 9, hold down control, option and apple and go to about this computer. It changes to about the MacOS 9 team. This was in OS 8.6 I think, but is gone in 9.1
Oh well.

The original Stickies easter egg is still in 9.1:
* Open a new sticky note
* Resize it to about 2 inches on a side
* Type "Antler!" (without the quotes)
* Press Return
et voila!

whatever happened to the 'secret about box' easter egg from SimpleText: the one with the Cupertino campus and flag waving, that you could eventually tear off, that had to be the best one.
Did anyone manage to hack that out and have as a standalone timekiller ?¬)

The yak comes out and spouts witty sayings.
But dont spook him.
