Although I'm ordering the 9.1 CD - I'm going to think it over carefully before/if
installing it.

I have fast stable operations under 9.0.4 and have dealt with its little
quirks - why mess with success?

Time out here to just enjoy this boring trouble-free iMac - no updates to
chase after, no trouble shooting - just whiling away the time.

I actually think installing off the CD is better than the update. I have a 9.1 Cd and when I installed it I didn't encounter any problems like I did with the update

Absolutely - Apple makes that pretty clear in their read me's - but some are so anxious to
be first on the block they just plunge ahead.

I wonder what all these people who are constantly downloading everything, do - when
they encounter a problem, even starting up. A CD in the hand is worth...............?

Patience is a virtue with computers of ANY make.

May as well give it a go.
If something goes wrong do what I do - boot off your old 9.04 System Folder which you copied to your backup partition before updating it on the main partition
