This what I have
System: Mac G3 (teal) MAC OS 8.6; RAM 704MB (2-DIMM 256MB, 1-DIMM 128MB, 1-DIMM 64MB); Virtual memory OFF

I keep getting error -42 messages and pretty sure I have tracked this down to Quark. I have yet to try fixes for this however.

Is there anything awry with the RAM configuration I have? Can I access all this on the set-up I have or will this cause problems of its own (ignore the -42 issue here)?

Hope someone can put my mind at rest. I would just like to eliminate this part of my problem equation and get on with sussing out the other factors.

Thanks in advance

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the RAM configuration you have. I used to have a B&W G3 with the same config, and I did have a problem with the machine freezing occasionally, but I replaced the 64 with another one and the problem went away.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Mnay thanks. I was reasonably sure it was okay but...

And the problem is, I am sure, Quark related. All to do with Q4.04 thinking fonts and images are all open files and the limitation on the number of open files under pre Os9 systems.

Thanks for the reassurance
