Hi all, is it easy to install 9.2.1? I want an ipod so i guess I need it. i also see a 9.2.2. What's up with that? I do not plan on using X so do I need this one or can i stop at 9.2.1? I'm also wondering if other downloads are needed along with the os? Continuing, does the update do everything automatically? Extensions, etc? I'm not to good on the problem shooting end of things so i want to make sure it does not mess up my machine, apps, and peripherals... Thanks all. i need someone to hold my hand on this one. I do want my ipod though....

Just go for 9.2.2. You can get it here: http://www.info.apple.com/support/downloads.html
It's a piece of cake, and worth it.

I use 9.2.2 as a standalone OS without OS-X,and it works ok for me.I had no problems upgrading from 9.1,but I don't see much difference either.Maybe, just maybe a little faster.

The upload did everything automatic gor me,nothing changed or dissapeared.(it's Apple after all,no Windows! )

If you must upgrade to 9.2 for the iPod, then go for it, but don't trash your 9.1 system folder just yet.

I made a backup copy of 9.1 when v9.2 came out, and was real glad I had it to revert to after a couple weeks of 9.2 getting slower and slower, despite all troubleshooting attempts.

I would also reccommend you get the full install disk of 9.2 and not run the upgrade. Alot of people have had trouble after running the upgrades.

I agree - do NOT use the updater.

Somehow get a full install disc, whatever it takes.

Also, again as Chris said, I'd recommend you leave your 9.1 system on the drive in case you need to boot from it... when 9.2 goes to hell (when, not if...).

9.2 is awful. The update is, anyway.
