Mac OS 9.2.1 takes forever to startup!!!

This morning, my sister startup the Mac OS 9.2.1 as usual, but it hangs on the "Welcome to Mac OS" screen (without any extension loaded). However. when I tried Classic in OS X (I can boot from OS X) it startup successfully. I might need some help and guide here before reinstalling the OS 9.2.1. Any help and/or guide would be greatly appreciate.
