I just installed OS9 on my iMac DVSE. I set it for auto sofware update. When I try to udate it seems to take control of the iMac (greys out the finder and everything else) Starts downloading the Open GL update. Gets almost halfway through at that point I am disconnected for lack of activity, but I can't do anything as it takes control of the machine giving me no options. I've tried this twice. Any ideas?

What sort of connection are you using to access the Internet? Most of the people who are reporting success with Software Update have some sort of high speed connection (either T1 on a LAN, cable modem, or some kind of DSL). Apparently Software Update doesn't work well or at all if you try to access it with dial up. FWIW I used a cable modem to download Open GL 1.1.2, it took about two minutes and worked like a charm.

Thanks for the info. Assuming eveyone has DSL, Cable T1 etc is a bit premature at this point in time. I think this is a problem that should be addressed by Apple.
