Is it possible to assign a verification rule to a particular cell in a spreadsheet? If so you how do you do it?
What I want to ensure is that the user entered number in that cell is greater than a value in another cell. I have done this in MS Excel but I haven't found a way to do it in Appleworks other than in a database. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm still using Clarisworks 4.0 but I think I can make a suggestion.
There is a conditional structure ( IF statement). You could write a command in a cell that would test the value against the standard value you mention then change it if it was too small.
I suppose you could also write a calculation that would select the maximum of the entered value and the test value.
Is this along the lines of what you were considering?
What I was really looking for was a validation rule where a pop up custom error message could be displayed. MS Excel has this feature and I was hoping that AppleWorks also had the same freature for the spreadsheet.
