Has anyone noticed OS9 changing AppleTalk passwords? I have posted a similair item in the networking forum(dealing w/ an iBook), but today I noticed the same problem on a new G4.
Bacause both Macs are using OS9, it leads me to believe that their might be a bug (if I am not to blame). Heres the situation...
When I open the File-Sharing CP and change any user's pswd, nothing happens. The password reverts to something else. I think it might be the users name, but it only shows up as bullets.
I am skeptical that it is a bug since it seems hundreds would have experianced the same thing. But please give some input.
Thanks

Keda,
I noticed this problem too, but what it is in reality is the OS just covering up whatever password you put in no matter how long (1-8 characters) will be covered up by 8 bullets. i suppose to stop prying eyes. For example is you put in "ABC" as the password, 8 bullets will still show up. Hope this helps!

Two other things are also happening. When I open my network bowser, I get an error message that says my SLP extension could not be loaded and to check my connection/setup. When I try to connect to my girlfriend's iMac, I get a message that user name/pswd is incorrect.
To rule out the basics...The iBook only offers 1 option for connectivity, SLP is active in ext monitor, both user/pswd are the same on both computers, filesharing is on, and the Mac is plugged in

Problem Solved! duboy-your right on the money. As for SLP, it was an extension conclift. I noticed that 2 ext (USB&ATI) said that they were specificaly for the iMac. I turned them off and teverythings groovy.
