Hi guys,

I've being noticing for a couple of days that each time I open Netscape or any other app that uses OT for that matter my iMac rev A gets stalled and keeps accessing the HD with that peculiar sound for about 30 sec as if it were looking for something, I just stare at the screen, I admit this is driving me crazy because aside from not being able to do anything during that period I don't have the slightest idea as what it's causing all this. Have you guys experienced something like this or is it just my bad luck?

Is there a CD in the drive? I have heard of Netscape spinning up a CD if one is in the drive as the program starts up.

No, there isn't. IE 4.5 does the same thing, along with OE 5.0. Do you have any more clues? TIA

If you haven't installed a lot of software, I'd suggest reformatting your drive and reinstalling everything on the system cd. If you don't wanna do that, get something like norton utilities and de-frag it. Something similiar happened to me in the past, although the time wasnt 30 seconds, more like 10. Defragging completely got rid of the problem.
