I have an iBook 466 and want to install Japanese 9.1.
I have the retail disk version of 9.0.4j, which won't boot on my iBook (enabler problems). I installed 9.0.4j to a seperate partition on my HD, then updated it with 9.1j (from Apple Japan website). I then made a bootable start-up disk CD.
When I transfered the files to my iBook and restarted, the iBook wouldn't recognize the new system folder. I just get a flashing/? folder.
Next I tried booting from the CD I made. Again, it wouldn't recognize the disk as bootable. I know the disk will boot, because it boots my G3/300 Beige just fine.
Does anyone have any advice on how to resolve this? Am I missing something here? Is there a work-a-round, short of waiting for the CD from Japan?
By the way, I just sent out the update form to Apple Japan to get 9.1j on CD (4-6 weeks).
Thanks,
David
