Hi Again
I managed to speak to a tech at Apple Australia and he confirmed the problem with Mac OS 9 and Easy Access after it failed on his mac (only certain keys dont work on the keypad)but it means that people with disabilities ie using a head wand and Easy Access cannot use Mac OS 9. Apple Australia rang back to confirm the problem and advised me that the workaround is to turn off virtual memory (this means you will need extra ram for your OS and Applications. The tech advised that it is being escalated to Apple in the US and to call back in a few weeks to see if they is a better solution.

imagine that, Virtual Memory was to blame!
