I'm running iTunes 2.0.3 under OS X 10.1.2, and I have this very annoying problem.

All day long, iTunes starts to forget where certain files are located. I click to play a song and iTunes will say it doesn't know where the file is, despite the fact it knew yestreday or even an hour ago. So I use the file dialog to go locate the file where it has been for weeks, same place - was never moved in the first place.

This happens constantly without me moving files at all. The songs it happens to seems to be random, there is no pattern to it I can detect.

I relocate the file and iTunes plays the song no problem.

Very strange... Anybody seen this before?

I used to have this problem a lot in OS9x. I finally reinstalled the music files that wouldn't play, and the problem went away. I think it may have something to do with duplicating files to a separate hard drive or partition. Or maybe a bug in iTunes that hasn't been fixed yet. As I remember, it was worse in earlier versions of iTunes.
