Hi, how do I open doc files in OS9?

With Microsoft Office, of course. Or even with AppleWorks 6.2, i believe.

If you don't happen to have either of those programs, try CanOpener from Abbott Systems. It's irreplaceable for rescuing text out of foreign apps.

It's saved me more than the bucks I spent on it.

Or just MS Word.

If you use CanOpener, you'd better hope there aren't any graphics embedded in the file. And that there isn't any complicated formatting, like tables. Heck, if you want to see the mess of stuff in a Word file, you could just open it with BBEdit Lite.
