Has anyone experienced a problem with Dave 2.5 and Open Transport 2.6? I have everything setup properly and with 2.5 and it works but with 2.6 I'm getting Wins Server is not responding. Is there any options other than downgrading to 2.5?

Just yesterday I configured a client's G4 with OT 2.6 and DAVE 2.5. We had no problems seeing their NT servers or configuring the machine to mount shared volumes on startup.
Can you be more specific about the network you're trying to access. You say it's WINS-based? Maybe the problem revolves around authentication on the network? Shrug.

It is an NT nerwork. I had it setup with a Wins address and also set as DHCP and both do not resolve with OT 2.6 It stopped working when I upgraded to 2.6 I had a wins address in there. Maybe I just need to check some settings in the NetBios or something

I'm having a similar sort of problem, and it might have started when i upgraded to 2.6 now that I think about it.....but maybe not. I can look at all the windows computers on the network, except for the NT server. So I can't log in or anything. It's really annoying and I'm awaiting a reply from thursby systems to see if they have an answer to the problem.

You may need to use BOOTP instead of DHCP. I have Dave 2.5, OS9 and a NT based network. The only way I was able to get all to work together was by using BOOTP. Good Luck

I had a similar problem running VirtualPC - TCP/IP services would hang. Downgrading was the solution.

Have you tried configuring a HOSTS file on your Mac? The reason i suggest it is NT and the mac do name resolving differently; therefore, the Mac needs to help the NT box communicate.

I sometimes had that error message pre OT 2.6. Since the upgrade two days ago I haven't had any problems. When it said the WINS server was not responding it was only the primary WINS server, not our secondary WINS. **I also went with the AsantéFast OT ver 4.0 driver for my NIC instead of the AsantéFast RevB 2.0 driver. Both are OS9 compatible but I couldn'e find out on their site why you use one over the other.**

I have the same problem. DAVE 2.5 and DHCP in OT 2.6 seem to have a problem on boot. My symptom is a hang on boot about 3/4 of the time. Disabling NetBIOS Networking fixes the problem.
