I know that user can assign more or less RAM for programs.

How about finder? Can I assign more or less RAM for it?

You can actually - but you must confident enough to use ResEdit. Open up Finder in ResEdit and open the 'Size' resource and scroll to the bottom. Change the field with 9xxxxx(where xxxx are numbers in bytes) to the size you want (in bytes). Remember that its safer to work on a copy of the finder and not your active one.

Yes, the ResEdit thing for Finder. But you use "Get Info…" on the File menu to increase/decrease the memory usage for other applications.

Thanks for reply.

Also I want to know if Finder will increase its RAM automatically?
I have 320MB RAM, however I notice that Finder will not assign more than 60MB RAM to itself, although it said it is low memory when I want to change the desktop picture.
