The internal modem on my pmg4 agp suddenly quit making sounds. It works fine, but no sound. I don't really miss the sound, but it seems like an odd quirk, and I'm concerned it might be an indication of some problem lurking behind the scenes. The modem control panel still shows the sound being on, and I tried switching it on and off to no avail. I also trashed the modem preferences, and restared the modem to create a new preference file. I ran a complete diagnostic on the modem using Tech Tool Pro 2, it checked out fine. Any suggestions?

Hmmm... Me too... G4 Dual 450... Just installed QuikTime Pro V5 try out, perhaps there is a connection???

Other quirk... I get a message on booting that not all QuickTime Files are updated... and then auto updater fails to connect to the QT server?

Check your Sound Control Panel, specifically the Input. Set it to modem and see if that helps. Also try trashing the Sound Preferences and restarting.
