Anyone else had the unexpected suprise of seeing Software Update CP all of the sudden running in the applications menu? I didn't open it, and it's only supposed to update my software at 8am, and I just got home at 5pm!! Sometimes it's there, and others not, but then I'll open up netscape to surf for a while, and then switch back and forth between it and soundjam, and BAM, it's open! what's going on?!
thanks,
Seth

Before you criticize someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

If you computer was not connected to the Internet at the time the schedule was supposed to run it will wait until the next time a connection to the Internet is established to check for updates.

SpicyJeff,
That's a good thought, but the only problem with that is, I'm on cable modem

Leave the update automatically box unchecked, and update when you want.

When I started having similar problems, I turned off the automatic update. However, my manual didn't work either. It still doesn't even though I'm running all the latest updates (which I go manually)
My "Software Update" cannot even find the list.
I'm very interested in an answer.

Stan, Try this, it may not work, but it can't hurt. Delete the Software Updates Preferences file, the Software Update Logs file, and the Updatable Items file... restart, and rebuild desktop. Good luck.

9.1 should fix most of the software update problems we've all had.
