The HP 870 does not show up in the chooser. Any fixes or suggestions?

OK, this could be about a million things.

Let's narrow it down.

Clean install of OS9? Install over 8.6?

Did you check to see if the driver is physically in the Extensions Folder (inside the System Folder). The file name would probably be DeskJet 800 Series.

If the driver is not there, reinstall it from the original CD, or the most recent downloaded drivers from the HP website.

Let's start with those and go from there.

Also, make sure that you have downloaded the latest driver patch from HP for MacOS9 compatibility.

Please tell us what Mac you are running as this would help determine the problem you are having. Has this printer worked before? I assume you have it connected using Appletalk as the 870 was one of few HP printers of that day that was Mac compatible. Today the all of the new ones are Mac compatible as long as one has USB.
