9.1 and IPX

I have a client that is upgrading from 8.5/6 to 9.1. After they do this and try to log into the Novell server the login window won't go away and it is difficult to the two volume of the server. IS 9.1 compatible with IPX and Groupwise or does it even need it anymore?

A 3rd party makes a novell client SW and as i remeber reading its being updated. i think it might be "prosoft"
