Does anyone know the Software Update URL? I want to know so that I can download an update only available through the control panel so that a non-internet-enabled computer can use it.

software update doesn't have a url, but apple posts many of their software updates on the web shortly after making them available via the Software Update control panel.

go to www.apple.com/hotnews , then take a look at the right-hand side of the page, on down a bit.

there you will see recent mac os and 3rd-party software updates. There is also a link to the less recent updates.

What is this suppose to do anyway?

Because I don't know what it does, or how I can use it, I've never downloaded the update.

Can anyone explain to me what it supposed to do?

I like Fulmer's link better. Just seems easier to navigate and you see more updates. I never saw the Hot News page update area before. Cool.
