Hi folks,

I updated my system to 9.1, and now everytime I turn on my mac there are a couple of misterious "rescued itens" on my trash(and I DID NOT crash or shuted down it improprely). It's annoying.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance

in all likelihood its a cleanup issue , from the install.

Either you never ran AutoPurge and now has cross-linked files and some show up each time, and you really need to run Disk Warrior, or do a backup, and reformat the drive.

9.1 does not leave stuff in the temp folder. Have you run DFA at least? I would NOT trust Norton 5.03 or earler to deal with any major drive problems - it can and often does make them worse. 6.0 or TechTool Pro 3.02 are fine. DW is #1 though.

That you get items in the trash is actually a good thing most likely. Mac OS 9.0 and 9.04 would just leave junk files on the hard drive, which is why Eradicator and the similar programs were written. Mac OS 9.1 just automatically moves the leftover scratch files and such to the trash when it finds them after a reboot.

Does your file say someting like cache.iik??? With a colorsync icon??? I only get these files if I print with my Mac. If I don't print and restart, they don't appear. I think they are your print files for non-postscript printers.

I have noticed it also on a BW G3. Every time I start up my computer it has Temp files in the Trash. It is a good thing that MacOS 9.1 moves the temp files folder to the trash but shouldn't it also empty it? Having to empty the trash every startup is getting a little annoying.

I get trash items after using my online bank. They use Java but officially do not support macs saying that the MacOS implementation of it is incompatible - so far it seems to work - now where's all my money gone?????

I see the same thing happening as fishbone - but only with my wallstreet PB and not my PPC G3 beige after updating to MacOS 9.1. It occurs EVERY TIME I restart the computer even without previous crash. "Normally" the Rescued Items folder holds somewhat around 50-60 files of together appr. 1MB. What is that?
