Sherlock Indexing and PC files

I have a bunch of PC text files (.wpd and Word for windows) that I want to make sure are searchable by content in Sherlock. This is become possible when they are indexed in Sherlock, or do I have to convert them to Mac programs? Any information is appreciated.

In theory it will work fine, if I understand the way Sherlock works properly - if it is simply plain text in the file it will be ok...
Might have to change creator/type... not sure how Sherlock does it.
Formatting within such documents is in unreadable code... so that may interfer with sentences, but you get what I mean...
