This is probably an old question, but I can't find any reference via a search. I've not paid much attention to the Network Browser until using MacOSX. My browser shows two hierarchy for what appears to be AFP servers; one called "Local Services" and one using the domain name of my campus. Each seems to be showing Macs with IP-based sharing turned on.
What is the difference between the two hierarchies, and how does a machine end up in one or the other?
