Icons Disappearing..I'm stumped

All my Icons for any applications that were intalled from the OS 9 disk such as stickies,scrapbook,sherlock,etc. are turning to the generic pencil and paper icons. I can't figure out what is causing this or how to get them back. Any suggestions???

This may be too obvious but, have you tried rebuilding the desktop?

Hold down option and command on startup and rebuild the desktop file, that will set your cions back into place
