The Mac OS seed I received was Mac OS 9.2.2 Beta 5. This is not the feature complete OS 9.2.2 that we will probably see, so these are just preliminary observations. First off, Like Mac OS 9.2.1, LU1 will only be supported on computers that can run Mac OS X. That includes the entire Power Mac G4 and G3 family of computers, the entire iMac family of computers, all of the iBooks and the Powerbook G3 family of computers, excluding the original Powerbook G3 in the 3400 Series shell. Many things have received bug fixes, including the following:
Apple Audio Extension, Apple Enet, AppleScript ,Apple Share ,ATI Drivers ,Authoring Support ,DrawSprocketLib, EnetShimLib, Firewire, HID Library, Mac OS ROM, NVIDIA Drivers ,Open Transport ,OpenGL Drivers, SerialShimLib, System, System Extras ,System Resources ,USB Drivers
The following have received bug fixes and have been catalouged:
Airport: - Clipped Text in Installer - Installer does not remove AirPort Folder - Alert Appears twice in Ciao Dialog
Apple Audio Extension: - Internal Desktop G4 Speaker noise floor to high - 5-15% Slowdown w/ USB Speakers - USB Audio Output+MIDIman USB Midisport + Headphone jack = Hang
ATI: - Hang at gray screen on restart with TV attached - Performance loss up to 12% with ADU 2.0.1
FireWire: - FW dialog disappears after waking PowerMac - Mac doesn't realize it is IRM if a FireWire hub sets Contender bit
Installer Script: - Install pane has incorrect wording to initiate install process - Apple Enet is not updated to 2.4.3 - OpenTransport is not updated - LU1 should install AppleShare Client 3.9.2. - User break in Network browser - File sharing cannot start up [Doesn't restore file sharing prefs] - Cannot install LU1 in Classic when resides on same partition as 9.2.1 but allows installation over 9.2 when it should not - LU Installer permits installation when the user is Non-Owner user - LU Installs over localized versions of the system software
Mac OS ROM: - prevent iMac batteries from draining prematurely and dying - User can wake system when clamshell closed & running on battery - F12 eject from iTunes ejects CD during copy in Finder - Mute != Zero Volume - add memory fencing nanokernel debugging for G4, especially PowerBooks - Display backlight doesn't recover if dim/off and AC connected - low power & thermal messages no longer combined - updated the boot code such that it now runs Extensions Manager earlier, before generic drivers, USB, FW, and OT exts. loaded - fix random crashes caused by opening ATM driver from within InitFonts
Open Transport: - OT DHCP leaks memory - OT DHCP gets 'stuck' in autonet mode - OT DHCP tries to request garbage address, delaying boot and wake by 15 seconds
SDAP Authoring Support: - No Audio CDs play on Powerbook, AppleCD Audio Player nor AutoPlay - Can't burn using Disk Burner in the Finder
USB: - OS9 Restart testing fails, crashes in USB code - Internal modem not functioning in a 3rd-party application - Native Power Manager support for UPSs not always working
