someone messed up my menu bar so that when you click on a menu item like "file" you have to hold down the button to keep the menu on the screen. For the life of me I can't figure out how to put it back to where you just click it and it stays open until you select an item, and it's driving me nuts. I know this should be simple but... does anyone know how to fix this?

There isn't any system preference to disable that. I'm not sure how they would have totally disabled that, aside from some 3rd party resource...
