Computer Now Dead - New OSX Software Update Updater

Has anyone else had any problems with the new Software Update Updater. Since installing it on my Cube and 2001 iBook, neither has worked right. The Cube will not even startup, if this is another botched software release it is two weekends in a row. Not a good record for Apple to have going.

New Software Update updater? I just ran Software Update and it says my software is up to date....
