Since upgrading from OS9.0 to 9.0.4 everything is fine, *but* when I try to restart the computer, or even shut down, the computer either 1. (stalls) or 2 (locks up completely). Any ideas????

Do you have a Keyspan Digital Media Remote? I have not been able to restart or shut down with Mac OS 9 or 9.0.4 with this software enabled.

To get around this problem, I have logged out before restarting or shutting down.

I had the same problem - it would lock up every time at shutdown/restart. I ran the complete Conflict Catcher test and discovered that it, of all things, it was the "Speakable Items" extension that was the culprit.

I haven't had the problem since disabling this extension.
