We have got a brand new G4/867 with a very nice CD-RW/DVD-R. Many of the CDs and DVDs (even the blank ones which came from Apple) are demonstrating an "unable to initialize, disk is locked" error. This happens to most, but not all, CDs and DVDs.

I ran the Software Update control panel and updated the Authoring Support to 1.1.3, but this has not fixed the problem. Once, on a DVD, when it asked us to initialize it I set it to "Mac OS Extended" and it did some type of count down of the free space, but then just showed the same error message and froze the machine.

This is a bit urgent so if anyone has any ideas?

Possibly a bad CD-RW/DVD-R? Anyone?
