I've heard of people trashing different prefs files. But, can you trash the entire PREFERENCES FOLDER (with all the preferences files in it), without causing problems or can you only trash individual preferences files?

I'm still trying to find a solution to my slow trash can issue.

Yes, You can trash the whole preferences folder (what you might want to do is move it somewhere else, that way you can salvage preferences you might need). Once it is removed from the system folder, restart, and a new folder with the default preferences will be created.

Definitely do as ddiokno suggests. There's nothing more painful than having to type in all the TCP/IP or Remote Access information keystroke by keystroke.

Haha, I've done that so often its the task I LEAST dread after a system restore... I recommend everyone backs up a fully functional vers of their System Folder. That way if something goes wrong, 30 seconds later you can be up and running again...
