I have read the other posts regarding this issue, and I haZve tried the solutions posted. None have worked.

AN iMac that was working just fine until today, now has the bomb on startup saying that the Sound Manager does not have enough memory to continue... blah blah etc etc...

I have thrown away the preferences, reinstalled another Sound Manager, rebuilt the desktop, zapped PRAM, and called it every name in the book. :-) DOes anyone else know of a solution to this problem?

It is probably a font problem. Boot from CD and remove all non-standard fonts. Sometimes, corrupt fonts will cause this error message. Any font that has gone to a generic icon (symptom of resource fork problems) is probably the culprit. Restore your fonts from a clean backup and things should be fine.
