COULDN't boot from CD need advice

I couldn't boot from my system CD And I had to reinstall the system, So I copied over the system folder to another drive then restarted from that trashed and installed over that but I didn't start up from a CD is that a horriblre thing. I couldn't for the lif of me boot from the CD. everything seems to be running fine. Just checking if that was an ok way to work around the problem.

ps it not the cd it mounts when i put in the CD but just can't boot. It seems that lots of people are have this trouble. please help I would like to avoid this later on in life. Biege G3.

With some loud music + a friend to chat nearby you can get alot done. - but jezz, I'd avoid it if I had the choice---- If only real people came with Alpha Channels.......:)

Tell us about the system disc. What is it? Software restore? Install? OS9 CD? OS9.1 CD? We need more info... tell us more about your computer.

it the 9.0 install CD i dont know its weird. I start up with the c key down but nothing happens then the CD tray opening nothing eveytime. how about the way i worked around it will that work ok it seem fine now but I dont know

try holding C on boot, if that doesnt work, try holding option when you boot, if all else fails, zap the pram, and try the above mentioned idea's

Have you installed acdrw or dvd drive, some of those (mine  ) are not bootable
