I tried to read some files with NAME~1.EXT, you know, the windows too long names, from a Microsoft OS. Those files are movies. On Windows (98 & ME) they work correctly. But on MacOS they are impossible to read. For the MPEG one : "no MPEG stream found".

So I wondered on thing : is it possible Windows to write the complete name into the file, changing the data ? Is it why I can't open those files (two MPEGs).

--> I've QT 5 PR2 and Mac OS 9.0.4 all correctly set. So ...

.ext isn't one of the usual Windows Extensions I'm used to seeing. Are you sure that it isn't one of those Application Movies, where the movie is built into a self playing Application... That would explain why it works on Windows and not the mac.

As for the file name, that's not causing the problem, but MacOS X will be able to have the large File names... Finally
