I've been reading about all of these problems regarding os 9.0.4 and was wondering if using a utility such as Norton Utilities wouild fix these problems? I mean, maybe it's just some damaged files that's causing all of these problems. I have had situations in the past where I have had a problem with the mac os and Norton came to the rescue resulting in no more crashes... Does it work in this case?

Used Norton for years, but left it at 5.0 - it was always reporting problems with "B" tree leaves - and still reported them after "fixing" them.

Have found TechTool Pro much more reliable and effective - but it MUST be 2.5.4 (released in the last 2 weeks) to work with OS 9.0.4.

Just one person's experience - 3 Macs operating.

techtool has so many stupid bells and whistles that no one ever uses... Norton is the best utility suite, diskwarrior is a must, too... it can do what no other util can
