I have recently upgraded my system to OS 9 and can no longer use the sound control panel (It just crashes!!). Can anybody help?

have you tried deleting the Sound pre'fs file and restarting the Mac?

Yes, I’ve even replaced the control panel with one from another Mac, the problem still persists

have you tried upgrading to 9.04? or you can try deleting a mess of pref's files...

Finder pref's
ASLM pref's
System pref's
MacOS pref's
Sound pref's again
Control strip pref's

and restart

Have you tried turning off "sound track" or changing sound track to "none" in the Appearance Control Panel?
