reverting to defaults in EnergySaver app causes freeze

I was playing around with the ES control panel/app today, and I found that when I chose "return to defaults" (in the menus) and then adjusted settings, I could produce a total freeze of my PowerBook G3/500 (FireWire). Has anyone else seen this?

Every time I open EnergySaver on my iBook it freezes, every time .
