evening all,

just wondering if itunes supports dual processors? i think it may because on my g4/450 dp i was achieving 10.1x ripping speed when converting a 400 meg avi to an mp3.

anyway, was just wondering if anyone could confirm my suspicion?

cheers,

I remember getting about that speed from files off the hard drive using a G4 400, so I know it's altivec aware but I don't think it's multi processor aware.

As a small test I loaded up iTunes 1.1 next to SoundJam MP Plus 2.5.2 and proceeded to load 4,000 mp3s into first iTunes and then SoundJam. SJ seemed to do it a LOT faster (maybe it's the Velocity Engine support) or something. But there was a speed difference.

ok, thanks for your thoughts. i guess there's no way to tell for sure at the moment, but with itunes for os x, dual processor support should be assured.

cheers.
