There is a document called .DS_Store in many of my root directories. What is this from? Could it be from Virtual PC? Can I turn this invisible or delete it?
Thanks!

I think those come from the OS X Beta...
But don't quote me on that!

Are you seeing it under OS9 or OS X? the file is from OS X. I noticed it when I made all the invisible files visible under OS X. It should be invisible by default. There were instructions at http://www.macosxhints.com/ on all of this. A little searching should give you your answer.

These are created ny OS X and are invisible in OS X since they start with a period. You will see these files in OS 9 on the volume you have OS X installed upon.
You can delete them, although it will do no good since OS X will create them again next time it is used. and i am not sure what informaion is store in this file, I believe its window and directory settings or something of that sort.

Go ahead and delete it... I deleted the Beta and it's all good on my bondi-blue baby I'm not going to use the PB until it's faster than it is now... COME ON MWSF 2001!

I agree... I was running the beta but ran into too many problems. I expected Apple to release updates to the testers, but I guess I was wrong.
