I have three macs at home (spoiled eh?) and all of them say the wrong thing in the pop-up menu in the remote access control strip. Either "connecting" when it's idle, "disconnecting" when you're connecting etc.. all combinations seem to arise.

And all the macs do it......wierd. Anyone know why?

there's a bit of lag time between what your machine is actually doing and the control strip being updated, that's all. when you see "disconnecting..." it just hasn't been refreshed from the last time you disconnected.

Remote Access
Be sure you have the latest version that is 3.1.3 Its available on Apple`s Update web site. Even comes with a control strip module.

When I bring up "About Remote Access..." from the Apple menu, it shows version "3.5 (PS)." Wouldn't this be a later version than 3.1.3?

3.5 on mine as well. I don't think it's a lag thing - Right now it says "Connect" and I've been online for half an hour.

Thanks for the comments.

You can never have too many Macs
There are a few settings I want you to check, but I can't remember what they are
I deleted Remote Access off this machine so I can't check...
I'll post back later when I can dial into the other comp...

Yeah. We have three Macs as well--actually five, but only three are networked. The fourth is my fist Mac, a 512Ke (I love the "e"), which my kid and his friends still use for some games they love but won't run on the newer machines. The fifth is a Classic II, and it's begun to make strange noises. I think it's the HD, but it could be the fan. Anyway, I'm not about to fix it
