I have just had to do a re-install of OS9.2 on my Classic partition, but I don't see a desktop folder anywhere, so I can't get to my desktop files from within X. Is there something wrong with the installation?

Is it invisible? Use Tinkertool to make invisible files visible... are you looking in the right place? The root of the drive, that is.
