How? what key combo to get numlock on?
Have never needed it before, capslock is easy.

Anybody use that part of the keyboard?

I don't think I've ever used the Num Lock on a Mac before.
The new keyboards don't even have it do they?

The older ADB extended keyboards had a Num Lock button and light, same with Scroll Lock... but I've never used it.

The concept of having to enable the number pad to me is ludicrous...

What do you need it for?

Been doing more junk in Word and Excel. In Word(Office 98)the number pad is dead, so any data points I add to tables or text body have to be entered on the top row of numbers vs. the num keypad. it sux. I thought I might be able to force the num pad on, but apparently not. I called Apple yesterday and had the poor guy stumped too. After conferring with his co-workers he said "some" apps use the numlock but had no specifics. Instead, I have downloaded all the patches for Office 98 and will install after reading all the warnings. Hopefully that will get me 10-key access again.

I haven't been able to get it to work in OS 9 but it works just by pressing it in OS X.
