Sound gets changed under MU

I have an iMac DV+ running with 9.0.4. I've noticed that when I log in under Multiple Users, my warn tone often is not set to my choice, but is still set to the tone the last user logged in had chosen. Is there a work-around? Is this a bug in MU? What about trashing a pref file?
