hello all -
in the (good) old days, holding down the alt key and selecting an app from the finder menu would hide _all_ other apps; so - if you have half a dozen apps running and wanted to rummage in the finder, you could hold alt, choose finder and _everything_ would disappear, giving you a clear desk to play with.

in os9, holding the alt key down only hides the app you were in - which is kind of annoying. anyone know how to get back to the pre-macos9 system?

There's a little shareware enhancement called QuickHide that will do it for you. I think you can find it at tucows.com

I know it works in System 8. Not sure about 9.

there's a freeware widget called ApplWindows that i swear by... though it is an oldie it works fine with MacOS 9.04 (and all previous MacOS versions)
