Anyone know an application, or work-around-the-finder method, for getting data off of a CD-R that's been scratched? The finder goes bonkers trying to read it when I move through folders, but it DOES mount on the desktop without trouble. With that, I'm thinking there's got to be a way to extract the data (at least the good, readable stuff).

Ideas??

I don't know if this will work on a CD-R, but I just used Brasso (has a very low-level abrasive) to clean some scratches off the back of my OS 9 CD that wasn't fully loading (loaded almost all of the way before reaching a part it couldn't read, and saying so.) It worked well; I was able to load the entire OS without a hitch immediately afterward. Again, I don't know if this is too much for a CD-R disc; use at your own risk!

FYI, and I know this will churn a few stomachs, but I put the CD-R in my.....gasp!....Dell. Since I have MacOpener (or whatever it's called) it read the Mac files. The CD chugged a whole lot, but I was able to copy the data off of the CD and put on a ZIP. Mmmmm.... that's about the only helpful thing that Dell has done 4 me...
