My Mac IIcx won't stay off! I disconnected everything i don't need, but It still won' t shut down. Please help! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

On the back of your IIcx, there's a small button that can be pushed in and turned. If it's in, then your Mac will stay on no matter what. It'll simply reboot if you shut down. Simply turn the knob so that it pops back out, and it'll stay off.

The button is round, and has a line down the middle. It's on the left, if you looking from the back.

With the button out it still does the same thing. I tried starting up and shutting down with everything unplugged but it still restarted. It must be an internal problem.

When was the last time the PRAM was zapped or the PRAM battery replaced. Either of those might case this soft-power issue. It is also not uncommon that a highly customized OS install might cause the system to have some shutdown confusion.

I zapped the PRAM but it still did it. The PRAM battery may be the culprit, but I don't think so because I didn't notice a change in the clock settings or anything like that. I didn't customize the OS that much either.
