I have a Blue and White G3 with CD drive currently running OS 9.2.2

I was thinking about swaping out the CD drive for a DVD drive (Pioneer 104).

What, if anything, will I need to get this thing to play DVDs?

Probably a graphics card with a DVD decoder daughter card.

Cocamix is right. You'll need a hardware decoder; buy while you're at it, why not spring for a combodrive? Check Newegg.com; they have a nice Toshiba for $70, free shipping 48x24x48 + DVD reading; considering the B&W only has a singe drive bay, it'd be something to consider.

The standard Rage128 graphics card that comes with the BW G3 should be fine. No daughtercard is needed. Check out xlr8yourmac.com's Drive compatibility list for reports of other BW G3 users who have successfully installed a DVD drive with no daughtercard.

You will, however, need to get a hacked version of the Apple's DVD player. A search for the the player patch on google should reveal some sites that have this (I forget the site I got it from).
