Called apple directly (most local apple stores had no clue on the new ones or when they would be in)so I placed my order asap and should be here by friday or Saturday.......Very nice salesperson, I got the Student discount of $100 and FREE shipping, out the door with tax $2050 good deal, welp thats about, now hope I can sleep!! ..Later.

Congratulations!

Welcome to Macintosh!

You'll enjoy this machine, and if you want help faster than the forums can respond, get on irc.macnn.com, channel #macnn.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

Welcome to our cult! Make sure you come back when it arrives and share your warm-fuzzies with us...

I think you purchased at a good spot in the upgrades leap-frog game. I'm guessing that your machine will prove to be one of the fasted G4s released prior to machines based upon a new CPU. (maybe the 970) The good news... my DP450 still seems fast as hell! Your machine will fly.

I will also congratulate.

I have found that 9/10 the middle is the best deal. You get the most bang for your buck. For example, someone in this forum once said something like,

when the beige G3's came out, and you saved $800 or so dollars getting the 233Mhz vs. 300Mhz, do you really think that it was worth it? I'd say no.

A dual 533 vs. a dual 450 (or 1.25/1.42), I don't think will make that much of a difference in the lifespan or overall productivity of the machine.

Always seems like they make the highest end overly expensive becasue they know that there are people who will buy the best one and not even look at the price.

Actually there's a few times that this is not true.

When the 733/867/2x800 line was around, well, lemme put it this way.

What do you think works better in OS X today?

There are some very rare instances where the theory isn't true.

of course, when you buy top of the line, you end up with the machine that looses value the fastest.
In a realm beyond site, the sky shines gold, not blue, there the Triforce's might makes mortal dreams come true.
