At what speed does your iMac burn CDs

Hello I just purchased an iMac on January 7 and I use Toast to burn my CDs but I noticed that it burns at 12X and the Apple site claims that the iMacs Superdrive burns only at 8X.

Could it be that I have the new 4X superdrive mechanism.

If anybody has a clue or burns at similar speed with an iMac 17" with Superdrive let me know.

..i couldn't even get my copy toast titanium to burn a cd-rw - it failed on the verification stage.. i tried disc burner - slow but reliable - that will do me.

Anybody has a clue of why I burn at 12X when it should be 8X.
