Hi y'all,

A good friend of my Mom's has an iMac problem. She just bought a 15" LCD iMac for her business... She owns a print shop and is of course constantly going between the computer and the print room. Unfortunately she hasn't been able to avoid getting a few ink/toner smudges on that nice white plastic and now it looks like heck! I haven't seen it yet but she says it looks five years old.

She's tried everything to clean it: I warned her off especially harsh solvents especially on the LCD as I've been told that ammonia/alcohol can discolor the plastic over time.

Is there anyone out there who's a printer? Anyone who's taken stubborn stains or ink/toner stains out of an LCD iMac or similar? I wish I could offer her any advice at all as she's feeling pretty bummed about her brand new apple being not so brand new anymore. Your two cents??

Thanks kindly,
Brian

PS is there some kind of a protective hood/mask for the screen she could get? Sorry for being an idiot about iMacs; I will get one as soon as they are obsolete so I can afford one!

Haven't had to deal with ink stains, but you could wrap the screen in cling film. As long as you keep it taugh while applying, it will remain pretty much as transparent as glass, and it can easily be replaced when needed.

Of course, she could just not touch the iMac!
What are you looking for? A signature?

My thoughts exactly; who touches a beautiful brand new Mac with inky fingers?? Busy people I guess.

Cling film is great. I have a transparent product made by 3M on my motorcycle tank; I didn't even think of it. Thanks man.
